MY CULINARY STORY
Born in New Jersey to Jamaican parents, and raised in Atlanta as the youngest of eight kids, Chef David Rose is the embodiment of America’s melting pot. “Growing up in New Jersey, I had a lot of Jewish, Italian, French, Indian and Korean friends, and I loved trying all of the different foods when I’d visit their homes ... Korean pancakes, brioche, gnocchi with clam sauce ... I had my first experience eating foie gras when I was nine years old,” Rose reminisces. “I’ve always been an adventurous eater, but it wasn’t until much later that I decided to turn my passion into my profession.”
His chef parents would bring young David to work with them, further expanding his curious palate through the diversity of flavors and dishes that he would taste. Eventually, this led Rose to enroll in Le Cordon Bleu Culinary College (Tucker, GA), where he graduated summa cum laude. Finding inspiration in his surroundings Rose identifies as a southern chef, creatively reinterpreting classic southern fare by incorporating the refinement of his French culinary training to his cuisine, with his signature bold flavors, and the occasional Jamaican flair.
Since graduating, Chef Rose has worked as a national brand ambassador and culinary instructor for the Big Green Egg, serving as their designated celebrity chef judge for The CBS Chef’s Classic, which airs on CBS prime time nationally. Additionally, he can be found both nationally and regionally at Big Green Egg Corporate sponsored events and food & wine festivals nationwide.
Most recently, Rose appeared as a finalist on Food Network Star (season 13) cooking head to head with Bobby Flay and fielding praise from Giada De Laurentiis. He is also the founder and creator of the TLC Experience (Tastings • Libations • Cigars) events, where he partners with spirits and cigar companies to create extraordinary dining experiences. As a private chef and caterer, Chef David Rose works day to day with high profile and professional clientele, including NBA and NFL players and celebrities.
Rose resides in Atlanta and continues to draw culinary inspiration from his frequent travels.
